Interesting, Kacie. I don't think Dr. Wilkinson-Ryan addressed this explicitly in the book, but what you say makes me wonder if there is a difference between feeling like a sucker and looking like a sucker.

If I go to a foreign country on a tour package and all I see are the usual touristy sites, maybe in my heart of hearts, I am OK with that and I don't feel like a sucker at all. But maybe I start to feel more foolish when my hoity-toity friends asked me what I did on vacation and I don't have any "authentic" stories to tell them that make me look like a "good" tourist.
